Wayanad is not a town or a city. It is the name of a large district with more than half a dozen towns. It has become a popular weekend destination from bangalore.
In all probability, you would be heading to one of its three major towns of Wayanad :
1 Sulthan Bathery
2 Kalpetta or Vythiri.
3. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
Some Advice
1. Any Wayanad brochure and even googling on the net wil get you atleast 25 attractions. Be warned - One cannot see all the places in two days. Do not rush plan for a week of stay or atleast two weekend trips to Wayanad. In two days, you can hardly cover 25% of these places. To make matters more complex, any two places of interest are separated by at least 20 kilometers which translates to a lot of driving.
2. Plan to Stay at two different resorts in two different parts of Wayanad so that you get to see more places. Wayanad has many hotels, resorts and Homestays. 3.Wayanad attractions mean you need to walk a bit. So it is advisable to skip peak summer and go there just after Monsoons. Please do not forget to wear good shoes
4. Finally, the journey, you can either take a public bus or drive down
1. KSRTC Bus : Take the KSRTC buses to Ernakulam and get dropped at Sultan Battery/ Kalpetta or Vythiri.
